Let me be honest with you by telling you that I did not love photography at first. If there is one thing I truly believed, it was that taking photos for money was the creepiest job on the planet. Sorry, but I just couldn’t buy the idea that being a photographer amounted to anything than just picking people to have their photos taken. Worse, my belief was that if you didn’t make a buck for a day, you’d probably sleep hungry or go back to your mama’s apartment to beg for leftovers. My perspective... continue reading

It seems as if this is all an uphill battle for me. I've not gotten one sell and I have had many rejects, yet, I STILL come back for more! Why do I keep doing this to myself? I wonder. There are a lot of other stock photography sites that I could go with, and I did try them out. They were so much easier that this one, but I picked to be here and dusted the others. This one seemed more of a challenge to me and I like this! I like this because I feel that by each REJECT there is always an explanation... continue reading
In July 2008 I started uploading pictures that seemed perfect and beautifulbut to my dismay they were all rejected. Still I didn't give up. Finally one of my photographs which was uploaded on 19-07-2008 was accepted on 24-7-2008 (ID:5805196). So excited, I kept trying my luck.More rejections than acceptance. On 17-8-2008 I was more excited when the first download (ID:58051960) happened with 3 credits. Until the end of June 2014 I had only 41 accepted images with 92 downloads.I was very reluctant... continue reading
November 2011 - "Hm... Dreamstime. Let's upload some photos." REFUSED. I was mad, I hated this site! "It's not fair! My photos are great!"They were not! Let's try again now that I have learned a few things."ACCEPTED!And this is how I started my way on Dreamstime.Time has showed... continue reading
I set myself an assignment the other day, to captureanimal movement with my new sigma 70-200 2.8 OS lens and new Canon 7D.Being fairly new to photography and exploring my new kit, I was eagerto get some decent shots. Put the camera on TV mode and tried various speeds from 500 to 1200.Here's one that Dreamstime accepted.Any tips, on capturing movement from any wildlife/sport's photographers among you? Thanks for looking... continue reading
The assignments are a pain in the neck. The chance of getting an image accepted as an assignment is dismal. It is alot of work!So why participate? I participate because it pushes me to think a little harder about my shots. I participate because it takes me out of my comfort zone. I also participate because even if an image is not accepted for an assignment, I get some new and different material for my portfolio. More times than not, images that I have rejected for assignments are later accepted... continue reading
After writing "Don't give up" I felt like giving up. I stopped submitting to dreamstime, but not due to lack of confidence. It was due to some unforeseen circumstances. Now I'm able to continue what I began, create and submit. However, I stopped when I felt like I was starting to get a grasp of both pieces of software. So I opened up photoshop, spent a little time on a nature photo that I was pretty happy with and it was rejected in a very quick fashion. I read the comments and took in what the... continue reading
