Whether our passion is portrait, landscape, abstract, or stock photography, we photographers certainly appreciate our little pocket-sized friends, namely our smartphones, which have become very powerful photographic and videographic tools, and are making a leap forward with every new addition to the market. It’s no surprise, then, that Apple’s newest iPhone alleges to have much improved photographic capabilities. The new iPhone 8 release is scheduled for a September 12th launch event and... continue reading

After using my lovely D700 Nikon for more than 5 years I decided to buy the new D810 body. What I didn't consider was the rest of my digital infrastructure. My computer is even older than my retired D700. In terms of our quick changing modern world: Close to stone age ...That's why my happines about my new pixel monster (called Nikon D810) decreased when I copied the first bunch of pixel monster babies (called high resolution photos) with my USB 2.0 card reader to my computer. The transfer... continue reading
I was away from photography for the past two years, working on my other career. However, I recently realized how much I missed photography -- and I'm back. Last month, in February 2015, I purchased a new camera (Canon 70D, a huge upgrade from my Panasonic Lumix with only 10 megapixels), and new photos are on the way. I still have the same model, plus a new one, and with the lens I am using, I am working primarily with portraits, landscapes and health concepts. I look forward to eventually cash out... continue reading
I've been taking pics all my life but didn't start getting serious about it until my first child was born in 1995. A year later I started a small bakery business specializing in cookie bouquets. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot staging my cookies for pictures for my brochures.Speed forward to today, and while I am no where near a pro, I do have a few non-profit organizations that I take pictures for. Mostly, I cover events for organizations' web sites, social media and newsletters.My... continue reading
As a photography beginner, this question is always in my mind recently. Although a good photo depends mainly on your photographic skills, ideas and composition of a photo, etc., I find that a better lens and camera really help in many occasions. While some top models of camera can use higher ISO such as 3200 to take a photo without much noise problem, my current camera encounters significant noise problem when ISO is pushed to 800 or above. In some harsh conditions with inadequate light, I can'... continue reading
Finally tired of fighting the camera and the far-too-often "out of focus" issues when an image is not accepted, I went ahead and ordered a Canon 7D (upgrading from a T2i.)I can't believe how much better my images are turning out! And, I wondered why I had waited so long to make the move.Camera equipment is an investment in your business (or hobby, as it is for so many people.) But having quality equipment will make all your efforts much more worthwhile. Imagine finding yourself in a once-in-... continue reading

Hi you all, and welcome to my second blog:Since i did my recent first ever photo shoot with a model (circa 6 weeks ago), i have stopped to reflect on what i produced in that shoot and comparing it with what i want to produce in the future.Looking back, i consider my first shoot actually a little of a disappointment to myself. If i were to redo that shoot i would produce more lighting in the background to give the walls a brighter “white”, and possibly I’d have painted the wall an appropriate... continue reading
I'm looking to upgrade my digital SLR to a more professional model.I have looked at some cameras online and like (on paper) the Sony alpha A850, and some of the Nikon cameras.I would like suggestions as to what would be a good camera to possess for my future in professional photography.I don't want to spend too much for it, but I am willing to spend between the range of $1000 to $3500.Any suggestions? continue reading
