I have just had my annual vacation to northern England and spent a good deal of time walking the hills and dales of Lancashire and Yorkshire. I always like to find something different than I've found before and one thing I found on this trip was something called a clapper bridge. I didn't know what a clapper bridge was but found out it is a large stone used as a bridge over a beck or stream. I took the following photograph of one called clam bridge. It is located a quarter of a mile... continue reading

Inflight magazines, airline brochures, travel agency websites, wanderlust blogs - these are photographer's potential customers for travel imagery. Beach destinations are among most popular vacationing places, but do you have what it takes to create a perfect sandy beach photo? You will find these issues on any popular... continue reading
I'm sure we've all been there, driving down the highway and we see something that strikes our fancy and we say or think to ourselves: "I'll have another or better opportunity at the next pullout".I recently had this experience, and I'm still kicking myself for not pulling over when I wanted to...a couple times.Of course there are those times when it's just not possible or safe to pull over, and I wish I had a camera built into the windshield and the shutter release... continue reading
DO YOUR HOMEWORKIf you're going to a specific location or venue, do your homework before arriving at your final destination. Are there any restrictions on photography and equipment? What access is there to the location? Is a permit required?Let's discuss a few examples. The United States White House has tours almost daily but you're not allowed to bring in large cameras. Point and shoot cameras are OK. Sporting events have restrictions on cameras and photography. Some stadiums do not... continue reading
The Mississippi River is one of the most beautiful and largest rivers in America, it is always said by many photographers that it's a must see, so one day last year "2017" I hopped into my car and took a road trip and got to the Iowa and Illinois border where the Mississippi River divided the two and I was truly amazed by the stunning beauty of the massive river. The Mississippi River is a tourist hot spot, throughout the whole world people flock to see it and this is why it was important... continue reading

Summer in Scotland - well, it sounds a bit contradictory… Scotland is probably not the first destination you will think of when you plan your summer vacation. Most people will associate summer with beaches, lots of sun, and a nice warm climate. These are, without offending anyone, not characteristics of Scotland! However, there are many other reasons for paying Scotland a visit and judged on the crowds at some of the attractions, not all people go to the beaches for their summer vacation.Beautiful... continue reading
I love food. Especially food from other countries. So whenever I travel, I try to taste something new. Ofcourse in China, the country of my wife, I skipped the grasshoppers and sharks on a stick. Instead I went for the steamed buns you can buy on the street. Grasshopper and snake I did try in the end though and to my suprise they weren't bad at all, but the steamed buns stay my absolute favorite. So what is your favorite streetfoodO, and it can be crowded in China :) continue reading
Some years ago, I decided to go on vacation for a few weeks during the winter. I checked the internet and found many hotels but with terrible pictures. That gave me an idea.I picked a few hotels and E-mailed them my proposal. If they let me stay at their hotel for free, I would create a beautiful website for them, showing off all the best points of the hotel. In return, they would let me stay for FREE.Out of 5 hotels, 2 agreed!Next January I flew to my chosen destination and stayed at the... continue reading
Last September I was traveling. I was visiting some friends and enjoying the theme parks at Orlando Florida. Yes, the crowds are horrible and everyone and their mother wants to take great vacation photos with their phones. Underexposed, dark, blurry photos of the fireworks at Disney or animal photos with a huge white spot where the flash hits the glass; we’ve all seen them, my mom still takes these photos proudly to share them in Instagram and other types of social media. So, what... continue reading
