Another Milestone Met - Over 200 images

I have surpassed another goal that I set for myself - post over 200 images on Dreamtime. And I have sold another image. It is so gratifying to be able to create an image that others like.My next goal will also be attainable; I want to double the number of images and sell another couple of images.I want to thank those of you in the Dreamtime community who came to my blog and made a welcoming comment. Those comments mean so much to me.Since I like to give back to other Dreamtime contributors... continue reading

A picture of a fox... or some general thoughts on vision.

Being in a forest and mostly with a photo camera, I have felt many times over that it was not I who was looking at the surroundings while my expectations to see a wild animal had fulfilled. On certain days before seeing an animal, I felt that it was rather the unseen animals were looking at me. It’s like playing hide and seek. Probably it was like that, buton the other hand, sometimes there is a point at which you see it, but one no longer knows who sees and who is seen, who is taking a picture... continue reading

New Eyes

I have begun to see my life through "new eyes" after these past few months of taking, submitting and studying stock images. I think this new vision is something very beneficial for anyone to acquire. It is a new appreciation for everyday things! Yes! I now am entering a world of nuances and seeing it makes the so called "mundane world" intriguing, exciting and beautiful!I am realizing I am surrounded by beauty! I was just at the laundry mat because I am traveling (as usual) and the old scratched... continue reading

The camera can create amazing images, even for the visually impaired

We all can attest to the beauty that the camera allows us to reproduce, just look over the hundreds of thousands of images you all have contributed here on Dreamstime. We can find photos of beautiful people, colorful flowers, spectacular sunsets, mouth watering food and so much more.Something many of us take for granted. There are many people, unfortunately who are unable to have these experiences because of a visual impairment.I for one, would be without the detail of the world if it were not... continue reading

Silhouettes that Sell!

Let's face it, we are here at Dreamstime because we want to sell images. The question in our image creation, though, is what types of images sell.A quick look through my portfolio reveals that my subjects are broad and varied.I am always searching for another angle, or perspective or view on a subject.Despite this, one of my favorite subjects that I come back to again and again is silhouettes.A silhouette image is easy to create just about anywhere and can result in powerfully simple images... continue reading

Shoot it or lose it

I just came back from one of my favorite shooting spots for flowers and critters, Flamingo Gardens I went to shoot some video of two of the waterfalls on the property and get some more shots of the various critters that roam the gardens. I hadn't been there in 4 months or so.Imagine my disappointment when I went inside only to find that the lush vegetation had completely overgrown the falls. You could hear them, but you couldn't see them, so, no video.I did the same thing to myself on a recent... continue reading

Killers and Heroes

As so many nature lovers I enjoy a lot watching nature documentaries in the TV, different channels offer spectacular scenes from all the continents. It is no longer exclusively the habitat of National Geographic: Discovery, Odisea and many others, from the USA, Europe, Japan and other countries delight us with beautiful and breathtaking animal behavior.Hunting, loving, killing, breeding, feeding and many other situations in the life of wild animals unfold in front of our eyes, we enjoy and we learn... continue reading

Images of home

Well, Iowa isn't really my home.I grew up in upstate New York and I miss the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.I used to feel that there was nothing to shoot out here in the Midwest, it all feels so flat and I do hope to get back to the mountains someday, either NYS or the Colorado Rockies. But photography has given me new eyes and I have found some beauty here in the flatlands :-)I am sharing some images of my current home with you.It just goes to show, there is beauty everywhere... continue reading
