Word photography is actually a combination of two words which have roots in Greek language. “Photon” which can be translated to light and “graphia” which means drawing. So, if you combine it together it sounds like “painting with light”. If we deep dive into the first word – photon, we are actually visiting the realm of physics because photon is an electromagnetic wave carrier, a single quantum of the electromagnetic wave. When oceans want to show off, they make some waves. Literally.Waves are the arches that the sea is forming after a storm, splashing onto the shore in a great white foam. They are surfer's best companion, and they are also the nature's fury. We've selected two of the best images depicting waves from different points of view and asked their owners to tell us the story behind them, the trip, the equipment, the moment, the post processing and, of course, any other useful tips.... continue reading

Sorry I've been away for awhile but I'm now back and plan on getting back to full stride. This is my first blog entry in some time but in an attempt to get the perfect picture of massive waves breaking on shore in my home province of Newfoundland Canada, I got complacent and forgot to take into account that an ocean wave breaking on shore may be 20 to 25 feet as they were this day but when a wave that large comes in contact with a cliff face it mushrooms upwards to a height far more than the previously... continue reading
