My little family and I just returned home from a two week vacation in West Virginia. My father (and his father, and his father, and... well, you get the idea) is from West Virginia, and my sister lives there also. Although the trip was mostly about seeing my family, who I hadn't seen in a good three years, I also took the opportunity to take plenty of pictures.Since there are so many pictures, and so much that we did, I've decided to split the blog up into two parts. This travel blog is about... continue reading

Hangzhou and West Lake Information

A few years ago I went to China and ended up in Hangzhou. To be honest I wasn't supposed to go there. I wanted to go all the way up North but the only train tickets available were for standing room and the ride was 50 hours long from Beijing so I told myself next time!If you ever get a chance to go, Hangzhou is beautiful. With its West Lake and tea plantations, there are many wonderful photo opportunities for every season. The easiest way to get there is from Shanghai on the high speed trains which... continue reading

The name 'Knockmoy' signifies 'the hill of the plain;' and the abbey which shares with it in the designation of the parish, was anciently called 'Monasterium de colle victoriae.' The establishment is said to have been founded and endowed in 1180, by Cathal O'Connor, monarch of Ireland, in commemoration of a victory obtained by him at its site over Almericus de St. Lawrence.
