Taking Advantage Of Analytic Tools

Are you taking advantage of all analytic tools what Dreamstime offers?

Today I rediscovered a tool which existence I had forgot. On uploads area there's a little link Download excel archive. You can find it on statistics page as well. That Excel archive contains all your uploaded files and shows totals about downloads, views and revenue per image.

It's a really great research tool. You can analyze which topics sell, which don't. Which images have not viewed, which might need new keywords.

I learned, that I have about 500 images on my portfolio, which have never sold, a quarter of them have viewed less than 30 times. Half of them are quite new, but others definitely need new keywords.

I discovered, that among my 20 bestselling images there are images, what have been viewed about 200 times have brought the same revenue than images with 27000 views. Top 10 bestsellers (images with highest RPI - revenue per image) the RPD (revenue per download) is $2.35, top 100 has $1.66. Total average is $0.97.

Assignment files have very high RPD, but I don't have many of them, so it's not very reliable conclusion.

Top 100 downloaded images have been online average 2.7 years.

It's a really great analytic tool. Thanks, DT!

You all are welcome! :)

This was very interesting. I learned something new this morning. Thanks Maigi.

Eclecticelegance

Oooh, thank you! I shall try that!

Bramble100

Oh, its great! Thanks! I looked only the curves which is good, but the spreadsheets are much more informative!

The conclusion I made was - images keep selling here. They just don't sell few months from going online and then sink into vast pool of DT images base. Which could be predictable, like you said. They keep selling. Equally well sell fresh images and older ones. When I was on several microsites, I saw that on many sites my images sold well first month or two, but then died out.

Maigi, going back to what you said "downloaded images have been online average 2.7 years".
that's really interesting . i wonder why 2.7 years or so.
it certainly not like selling books or movies where a hot item takes off the moment it comes out.
definitely something to think about .

Maigi

Good suggestion, Matthew. :) I think I'll stick with photography and web design. At least for a while. :))

Rosedarc

Yes, DT is full of very useful tools, that's one of the things I like about it.

Tan510jomast

wow Maigi, if ever you get tired of photography, if you're not already one., you should think on getting into the career as a stastician , and i know they makes a lot more money than stock photography, lol.

so, base on your stats, top dls have been online average 2.7years, huh?
i tend to believe this, as i am just about to be two years old with DT and my dls are just beginning to make some headway. most of them are my oldest images.
i will look into my own stats and do some figure crunching myself. cheers for the good advice.

I like to study it a lot and let me say DT have made a great tool. In the very beginning it was simple but with time it developted in excellent level! I like to study it. I agree with you - thanks DT!

Littledesire

The statistic page is very useful for my monthly comparison of all stock sites. Useful blog, Maigi!

I haven't looked at this tool yet. I've only just been here a year so there might be something worth looking at now. I'm off to have a peek. Thanks for the tips Mailis :)

The excel sheet is definitely overlooked by most, I would think.

I have about 14 assignment images and collectively they have an RPD of $3.70 - definitely worthwhile even if you don't win any of the prizes!

Creativei

yeah i use them often ad make my own charts from all other site. thanks for putting it here so people can use them.

Mani33

I agree with that! DT has great tools & user is friendly! Thanks for reminding ;)
