What microstock photography gives to me.

I heard about microstock photography a little bit less than a year ago. It was autumn. September or Octomber. I'm start thinking: "I'm not worse than all these people who make there money. Why not to try?" And I upload my favourite files. How I was disapointed when I saw that only one or two images accepted instead of 20 - 30. And I give up. But in the begging of 2010 come back. In first months I upload something about 15 images. And on february first sales come. Next month I double amount of uploaded files and sales increased. Finally in July I upload more than 60 images. In August less because of long trip to Canarias and lack of time. These images will come soon. Today I can say that I have my own 10 - 20 $ per month.

In conclusion what I want to say? What stocks gives to me? I can't say they bring me money at the moment, but I hope will.

First of all it's image's quality. It has significantly increased. If a year ago I can like not very crisp, bad-focused photo, now it's impossible. First thing for me now is quality when I choose images from the series. Now there is few images I get during photosession, which are bad from this point of view.

Another plus is number of ideas. I have a notebook to write them down because I can't remember all of them. I understand that I can't realize some at the moment. So I decided to go on photographing courses to study new techniques.

Half a year ago I don't know what to shot and know so many things brings new ideas, maybe not stock, but interesting ideas. I want to take my camera and start shooting, but I still have much more than 1000 images (was 2000+) from my trip to choose and edit...

Great job! I also remember when I first started uploading images. It felt like an eternity before I made that first $10....then $100...etc. Now, I just reached my 7,000 sale here at DT. It's all about dedication, passion, and never giving up. I just keep drawing and drawing and drawing and try not to ever get distracted or disappointed with the sales numbers. I try to think of new and different things to add to my portfolio. I am constantly learning new techniques and styles that enhance my work. As you keep taking more and more pictures, you will also become a better photographer. It's a great experience!

Recently, I have been spending most of my time taking photographs of people in my local area (at parks, at the beach, etc.) and creating silhouettes from them. I love this so far because A) it gets me out of the house and B) I am creating unique illustrations that I could never create without having the photograph.

You also appear to be a younger individual, so another advantage you have is TIME. I did not start creating images until just over 2 years ago when I was 39 years old. That means you probably have anywhere from 15-20 years on me to create images! That means that when you are my age, you could be making a FORTUNE compared to what I am making now because you have that extra time that I did not have. So, also keep in mind of the long-term growth. Years from now your portfolio is most likely going to allow you to retire when you are MY age now! That's not too shabby.

So, just keep up the hard work. Never quit. Always look ahead. To be successful monetarily at any microstock site, it definitely requires patience and an incredible investment of time. Best wishes!
