It's Easter Time
Easter is one of the major holidays of Christianity. Christianity is one of the major religions on the planet.
Easter is therefore celebrated in many houses around the world. I am not sure how, I know it has something to do with Bunnies & eggs. But, since many stock photographers are Christian themselves, there is too much competition.
However, since Easter period is an important time in the Christian year, there are many events around the world, including church ceremonies, pilgrimage, parades and festivities. Some major event take place in places related to Easter original story of Jesus crucifixion (like Jerusalem or Emmaus), and there are many local events.
This is a great opportunity for stock photographers to take editorial images.
Easter Comes twice a year
In 1054, there was a split, known as the Schism, between the eastern and western churches.
One of the results, is that most of the years, Easter is celebrated at a different dates by the western churches and the eastern churches.

Traditionally the fire is ignited from the holy grave itself. Fire is then passed on to the entire Orthodox world.
