A young karo woman is painting the face of another woman carrying her child in her arms. The boy is suckling. This Karo village is called Korcho and is located on a plateau on a curve of the Omo River in southwest Ethiopia, near the border with Kenya and South Sudan.
The two women have very short curly hair. The drawings on the skin are made by applying a paste that they themselves prepare based on dust of different colors mixed with water.
