18-55mm lens or 55-200mm lens?

Mike2focus
I just purchased a 55-200mm lens and have only shot with it a few times. I have a hypothetical question... If you were shooting a lone tree in the middle of a field and you wanted the tree to fill practically the entire picture, which you could achieve with either your 18-55mm or your 55-200mm lens, which lens would you choose and why?

If you want to isolate the tree from the background I would go for the telephoto, if I want to emphasize the size of the tree I would use the wide angle.

Thanks so much, Zenonk. That's the exact kind of info I was looking for! Being quite new to photography I've only been focusing on f stop, aperture size and ISO. Focal Length brings another variable to the equation that I'm trying to get a grip on. Great link you provided.
