Looking for a blonde Fabio/Jimmy Thomas - No timeline

This is not an immediate need. But something that photographers might want to go looking for to add to their portfolio.

I am a book cover designer and my designer friends and I have had multiple discussions lately, about how hard it is to find good romance novel appropriate images of hot, muscular, bonde guys that aren't already over used. There are lots of choices for Brunette guys out there, but few truly good looking blondes. If you can find one that isn't already over used, there's usually something about the camera angle, lighting, or model itself that just makes it not quite high enough on the hotness scale.

check the photos at romancenovelcovers.com for the kinds of things people are looking for... only with hot blondes!

I'll be happy to post links to appropriate collections in different places where designers hang out if anyone has something to get excited about.

If there's a demand there's an offer.

It's a catch-22 for all of us. A *GOOD* model is going to cost a couple hundred bucks minimum. Even if you find an up-and-comer and hire him/her cheap for $50, we photographers are going to make $2-$8 from a single sale. It could take 2-3 years just to break even.

It's a bigtime hassle just to find scrawny boys and ugly girls who are willing to work for free in order to get their modeling careers started. Finding warm bodies for conceptual and artistic (non-commercial) is a frustrating experience.

If you want a killer cover you could hire a photographer and models on your own but that probably wipes out any profits made on your books.

It is definitely a catch 22 that I've experienced myself. But the potential out there for romance novel appropriate blonde guy photos is huge. in the last 2 weeks I have seen at least 10 different conversations about needing hot blonde guys for romance covers. So the need is seriously there.... And heck Jimmy Thomas has create a romance cover "empire" with his own Hot Dark and Handsome mug.

I can only offer the fact that I will share whatever you guys come up with that fits the bill with a pretty extensive network of designers and authors. So keep it in your mind when setting up and looking for photos to take. If the opportunity presents itself, grab it, and keep me posted about it either here, or at thecovercounts at gmail

Well, tell you what, I'll give it a shot but it will take a few weeks to get the props and shoot and edit.

No promises... I googled Fabio and it's obvious an artist Photoshopped even him.

Brings up some questions... Hairy chest or smooth skin? Beard stubble or clean shaven? What other details are a must? Background scene or isolated?

Re the recent requests for bbw models and this I have put out a casting call for models in my area on model mayhem. Got a few responses for the bbw but in all fairness I think I will have to do a lot of Photoshop work on the models that work for free. I like the idea of the super natural elements to, as art says though it's not a quick turn around. Sourcing, securing signed model releases, the shoot, post processing, uploading, waiting for an acceptance or rejection here. Could be anything from 2 to 4 weeks but as there is no time limit I guess it's worth a try and hope we can can up with something suitable. I would be interested to know what type of backgrounds would be more desirable to as Art has asked?

The needs are always different, unfortunately. Though we can always come up with ways to use images, or even parts of images, to make them fit the plot. Like I said above, it's the stuff like what's on romancenovelcovers.com that would get used most.

He's the most popular romance novel model we've got at the moment and he's rather nice to look at. But he's not filling the need for authors writing about blonde characters. Anything you can create that could fit the same kind of need with the hot blonde guys, would probably sell.

OK, here's a shot in the dark, hopefully you book authors will be checking in. I know the scene probably doesn't fit most needs but I didn't have a white horse and castle at the ready. Question is, does the model have the "look" that works for you?

Image not available or id is incorrect.

OMG... I think I love you.

*dies with laughter*

I do have a designer friend who does a lot of parody covers. If she ever has a romance, I'll send her your way!
