Hello everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself. I love photography and have been taking photographs for many years. I shoot with a Canon 7D and a Canon 40D. I use a 50mm f1.4, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200f2.8, 100mm f2.8 macro and a few other lenses.
My favorite is children's sports and action shots like motocross. However I also like to shoot nature shots.
I've submitted 65 photos for review and the weeks wait is a very long one indeed! I have a lot to learn about copyrights and things like that. I guess most street photography is illegal to submit?
I look forward to learning from all of you not just about this forum but also about photography.
Welcome to DT! Good luck with your first uploads. Street Photography...if people or even one person is in the pic, submit as editorial, unless you have MR. If image contains copyright material, either edit it out in photoshop, or just submit as editorial. Everything else submit commercial. For more detail, check out FAQ.
And if you get some images in your first batch rejected because of copyright issues, just resubmit as editorial.
Good luck! :)

Your images can't contain any recognizable people without a MR, unless you are shooting Editorial images. Your image can't also contain any visible logos/trademarks, unless you shoot Editorial.
Editorial are newsworthy images, that newspapers etc can use to show the "real world ". Imagine the work you have to do if you take a picture in a full football stadium, then you have to get EVERY single person in the shot to sign a model release , that would not work. That would take 600 years. That would not work for any person that take news images. So editorial image are the only way to get a way with NO model release.

Thanks everyone. I wonder if there is a way any of you could review some of my photos and tell me what I'm doing wrong? A few of them were motorcycles jumping and I don't see how anyone could be recognizable but then I'm not sure of all that I'm doing yet? LOL
My lightening shots were declined with this statement: "We have reviewed your file and this is not quite what we're looking for. Please note that this image is not eligible for resubmission. "
It seems that the judged just were not too impressed with some of the photos as far as depth of field etc. No worries, I do it more for fun than anything anyway but it would be nice to generate some additional cash flow with my hobby. Again thank you all for your input and advice.
Any photo with people in it needs a model release, even if they are not recognizable, so you have to upload them as editorial images if you dont have the model release for them. If you upload many similar photos in the same batch you will probably have several rejections too. Read carefully the rejection reasons, they are the best way to learn what is wrong and to increase your approval ratio in the future. The first month my approval ratio was 4%, this last one is 90.5 %., so dont get disappointed and keep uploading. :-)
Some advice I can give...have a look at what is selling and then do your own twist on it. Don't copy the big names...be original and pay attention to composition and light. Submitting photos taken at noon are going to be rejected for poor or flat light. Not always but most likely. Read read read up on stock....have a look at what everyone is doing.
I like browsing the featured photographers PF's and seeing what sells best for them. Then I might go and try something with the same concept but different approach.
