As I said, there is a review process for the cropped images too, and we will have the option to revert the process as well, but we're still working on this. Sure, the bad cropped preview will be live for a short while until it gets reviewed, but we trust our users' good intentions :)
Note to myself (everyone are invited to add more points to this list):
1. Don't forget to shoot landscape TOO, not only portrait. 2. Keep the original image at hand to see where the focus was (the preview is not enough). 2.1. All the image must be in focus, someday facebook will change the horizontal cover in a vertical one. 3...
I have not been very active until recently. I am adding new material. But the post about Timelines and Facebook worry me. I don't mind having my images on a partner site but I am dubious about becoming involved with Facebook. From what I've been told they are very cavalier about copyright of images posted on their site. I couldn't find a particular post about Dreamstime relationship with Facebook so could you direct me to that particular thread that deals with tat issue?
Dudau, I consider myself an active contributor, I certainly dont look for policies, changes and innovations on social media! Mind you, I,m not some city whiz kid with an Iphone 5, nor do I want to be. I,m just a photographer who contributes to DT to make a few dollars here and there. That is the problem, Dreamstimes contributors are a mixed bunch, with all sorts of lives, a detailed newsletter containing new policies, and marketing strategies would always be better sent to the active contributors email address. In previous threads DT has said that new ideas are market sensitive, so it would make sense to send them direct, rather than publish them on "social media".
How do you get to the homepage from this page?

Yes Celiaak, I can crop your photos :)) ... and if you don't like my crop, you can reset the crop and do your own crop. We can play this game all day long till the last crop will be reviewed and after this... don't know what will happen... yet. We have a lot of time to play this game. Another DT experiment, let the show begin :))

Actually, only you will see the crop, until it's approved by us, so hopefully the opportunity for jokes will be minimum :)
Quoted Message: You can open a Facebook account specifically for this, there`s no need to upload pictures of your family, specify personal information, or check in when you visit certain places in order to preview and crop pictures on TimelineImages.
No, that is not an option. Don't you know thete are privacy issues with Facebook? They know how to monitor certain features of your computer.

This is strange decision, to let everyone with a DT and FB account to play with our files. Hope funny people will stay away and not flood your reviewers with jokes :) Also, I hope they will not share the jokes usings the buttons bellow the images. I will made some tests and post the feedback, hope you understand that my actions are just for made DT a better place for all.
About FB: Wisconsinart have a good point, as usual.
Quoted Message: Facebook needs that kind of terms in order to sell Sponsored Stories and Ads. Legally, there's no other way of dealing with intellectual property rights regarding their advertising programs.
Any image downloaded from Dreamstime can be used on Facebook, so opting out just because of TimelineImages is not recommended. We developed TimelineImages just to make it easier for users to use our images as Facebook covers, not because they can't use, in social media, images directly from Dreamstime.
You can open a Facebook account specifically for this, there's no need to upload pictures of your family, specify personal information, or check in when you visit certain places in order to preview and crop pictures on TimelineImages.
How can that be?
Out of DT's terms and conditions "... you may not sell, license for use, or in any way distribute the image for reuse. "
This is in direct conflict with what any FB user grants FB when uploading any image there (" transferable, sub-licensable royalty-free, worldwide license to use ").
As I understand it a license bought on DT does NOT allow the buyer to upload the image to FB, as he does not have the rights FB requires.
We will get back with a more thorough legal explanation. Until then, yes, images licensed from Dreamstime can be used on social media accounts. It is in fact very important to raise awareness towards personal users that images need to be proper licensed and not downloaded from search engines. If we expect users to stop stealing images we should also give them the chance to purchase a license. It is true that FB's terms are very broad, but they should be read in conjunction with FB's services, not taken out of context. Their sub-licensable RF should be treated in connection with the personal value (post, comment, etc.) added by the user not solely for the image itself. As I said, we will followup with more details about this subject.
Why buying a license for the images you are going to use, even on Facebook, is important: Publisher sues Sarah Palin and her political action committee for copyright infringement over the use of an iconic Sept. 11 photograph. ARTICLE
From my point of view it's a very bad tendency. And also it's a bit unhonest. I can understand that DT has to look for new tools to be stable at the stock market. No way to avoid it and it's OK. But why all the efforts related to these new tools are supposed to be done by contributors?!
Yes. I would like to 'increase drastically chances of my images to sell'. But try to count the time needed to pre-crop 1029 images from my PF. Given that for this I also HAVE to have FB account. Upload procedure is well optimised on DT - that's true. But even it takes a time, be agree. Now I will have to spent at least twice more time to keep my PF visible for customers. Pretty business!
What will be the next? Perhaps we will be made to produce all the formats (extrasmall, small, normal, large...) ourselves? And otherwise chances to sell our images will become negligible small?
Thanks for a nice present, DT.
I completely dislike this new feature from wich DT wants to get profit for my account without any efforts from the DT side.
What I see starting from April 2012 is that DT constantly decreases drastically RPD for each contributor and increases (also drastically) demands to contributor's efforts which HAVE TO be spent to get thought something. All this is presented each time as a X-mas present and all the admins smiles and we all also must celebrate each news of the sort. Which is a kind of nonsense, from my point of view.
Excuse me, I did not want anybody to be offended personally. But, at the same time I still hope that DT starts at last to stop considering contributors as a kind of lowly domestic animals and to undertake some honest measures to support its income. Saying 'honest' I am meaning 'for DT account, not for mine'. When coming to DT I signed a contract in which I promised to upload my images and DT promised to sell them. My part has been done. DT, please keep your promising and do not make me to do more. Instead, try to make YOUR part and keep YOUR promises (if you are able which I doubt).
Is DT able to speak honestly with contributors? Without funny tries to look as a Santa and making this absurdity show which we all are tired of?
