Telford is a large town located in the borough of Telford and Wrekin, in the West Midlands of England. It is located approximately 13 miles east of Shrewsbury, and is the largest town in Shropshire. The town was created in 1968 as a new town, and was named after the civil engineer Thomas Telford.
