Given its location on the Mediterranean, seafood is plentiful in the local cuisine. The mountainsides of the Cinque Terre are heavily terraced and are used to cultivate grapes and olives.
The Cinque Terre have managed to preserve themselves through the centuries; they are the sign of a religiousness which becomes culture, tourism and hiking. To each one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre corresponds, on the hillside, a sanctuary which the locals have always been attached to by a deep devotion.
