The 1 July 2004 Hong Kong March have been held as a channel to demand for democracy, universal suffrage, rights of minorities, protection of freedom of speech and a variety of other political concerns. More than 200,000 Hongkongers walked out of their holiday. White was the dress code for the day representing the desire for universal suffrage.
