Two sides of an Israeli 50 Shekel money note printed in 1978. This currency was canceled in Israel in September 4th 1985. The Israeli currency today is 'New Israeli Shekel' (NIS). On the note's front side (top) is the prtrait of David Ben-Gurion, was the first Prime Minister of Israel. Ben-Gurion's passion for Zionism, which began early in life, culminated in his instrumental role in the founding.
