With the boom of smartphones this year, many sites are having mobile versions of their websites or developing an app for the site. I know it will be a lot of work but not sure how people think about having this option. Comment on this thread. Developers and contributors, what do you think? Another first for Dreamstime?
Android, Symbian and Iphone's OS are on more mobiles than ever before. Still quite pricey, they evolve and the site is 99% usable to these mediums. I download my mobile's wallpapers right from the site.
As a smart phone user I hardly ever load sites in their mobile versions. You can get a pretty decent mobile browser on almost any smart phone and nothing is better than browsing a site in the same way as you would on your PC, in my opinion.
So far I've not had any issues browsing Dreamstime through my Android phone. :)
I agree with you Achilles. Dreamstime website loads fine on my iphone. But because there are many small buttons and tabs, I have to zoom in a lot to click on them. Works though. I myself original wasn't a big fan of mobile versions or apps of websites. But once I've started trying some of the mobile versions or apps of say facebook and Hotmail, they are very efficient since they are designed for the smaller interface. For example, the facebook app I feel is more efficient than even the PC version website. I figured if developers are searching for photos, all the excessive tabs and buttons just slow them down if they are specifically using smart phone devices. I know it's much slower for me to look at my sales and uploads. Especially when switching between tabs and sections. However, not sure if it's worth while at this point. I guess it really comes down to how many users are using these devices to search Dreamstime.
My post was about a mobile version of the site itself. Applications or widgets are a whole different thing. They can serve a lot of purposes and there are lots of devices to adapt to. But we don't exclude anything, so post your phone type and desired functionalities and we will think about it.
Talking about out-of-the-site features, if you're not already using the Dreamstime search plugin, here is how you can install it. Visit Dreamstime using Firefox (or similar, but am not sure if all browsers are supported) and click the icon from the search engines box (upper right side, next to the address bar). Below Google, Yahoo etc. you will find the "Add Dreamstime Stock Photos" link.

Who would pay $0.99 for a Dreamstime iphone app? With over 2 million registered users and over 100,000 new every month, if Dreamstime were to sell an app they would I think actually generate a good source of revenue. So I think Admins should definitely think about it. What do others think.
I think in addition to the mobile versions of eBay’s pages that can be used for searching, bidding, and buying, you can also arrange to have eBay text message your phone to keep you up to date about your bidding, buying, and selling.
What I've done to navigate DT on my iPhone is to bookmark different sections such as earnings, stats page, blog page, etc. Since it's bit of a pain to zoom in and click on the small tabs and links. Seems to be working ok right now but still browsing photos is still very difficult, so I'm still for the idea of an app for DT. Cheers.
I would much rather prefer a WordPress plugin for my blog site that allows me to browse/purchase images from within my blog interface. As well as properly formatting images in my blog with links to the image on DT (with my referral code) and an attribution for the author.
I think such a plugin would drive a LOT more traffic to DT. There's a third-party plugin does has the same functionality for a DT competitor, but I prefer to buy and sell from DT.
