Since we're always looking for inspiration, let's turn inspirational for a change and walk inner paths rather than seeking illumination out there. For the new assignment, we're aiming for revelation in spiritual and spirituality-oriented images related to religion and religious values.

Quest for life's values and meanings, belief in immaterial worlds are common to all humanity therefore a generic approach to spiritual or religious symbols as universal and timeless is advisable. In this sense, do not focus on emblems and figures characteristic to a certain religion only. At most, integrate them in generally applicable spirituality instances. Keep in mind that the divine is something people believe in, regardless of one's religion. The general picture may differ but heavenly lights, miracles, prayers, meditation or sacred beings are always seen as evidences of the holy supernatural. Your images should inspire and unveil how religious motifs and symbols reflect spirituality as translated in transcendence, individual development and connection with divinity.

Most inspirational images will be rewarded with $300 for the first place winner, $200 for the second place winner and $100 for the third place winner. All three winners will unquestionably receive the T-shirts bearing our own Dreamstime symbol to wear and inspire.

Tangie, just to make sure I got the concept right, a picture like these, even though is obviously a catholic church would be accepted, right?

Just a few helpful tips when considering "religion" for those not familiar with the emerging church phenomenon, which is sweeping the globe like crazy. Churches like these have now become some of the largest buyers of theatrical lighting and sound equipment in the U.S. because of how their services (called worship and message) are conducted. Lots of rock 'n roll, singing, and everybody rolls in wearing very casual clothing. They're anti-religion, anti-legalism, and very much Bible-based.

They don't use overtly religious imagery as we've come to think of it. They use conceptual images of growth, meditation, celebration, maturation, a lot of those puzzle pieces, isolation from others, loneliness, helping hands, and other things like that. Fellowship concepts are big, and they use a LOT of grunge and motion graphics. Actually, images of booze, money, and women are used quite often.

For a small idea of how these churches function, you can check out Catalyst Convention. It's a conference for leaders.

You'll be surprised.

Actually, here's a better link. Recent Catalyst Event The pastor of our church is in the clip :-)
