Image size when doing digital painting

I love to do digital paintings. But a painting bigger then 2400 + 1400 pixlar sometimes end up less then 2 mp. To me this is a little bit confusing.

If anyone can explaine to me - great!

And if I submit a painting to Dreamstime - how to count?

Megabytes and megapixels are different, you are confusing the two - megapixel calculator
Don't worry about megabytes, you just need the image size to be at least 3 megapixels to submit. 2400 x 1400 pixels = 3.4 megapixels

I have the same passion and digital painting is ~20% of my PF. Usually I try to do pictures 16-25 MP (NOT MEGABYTES). As I know larger sizes are more attractive for customers.

Best of luck!

Let's not get confused:
MP = MegaPixel
MB = MegaByte

Thank you for pointing my attention to my VERY FUNNY misprinting. Surely, I ment MEGAPIXELS.
