It's March and many of us have just welcomed Spring back. Spring is commonly perceived as the season of starting new, of beginnings and renewal so what better way to start fresh than spring-cleaning your house, garden, closet, garage, backyard and even life. Let's dust the old out, in comes the clean spring!

Focus on the house: sweep, vacuum, wash, dispose of rubbish or unwanted stuff. Assign tasks and show us your children cleaning their drawers, your father clearing the attic, you giving away old clothes. The whole family can help get that sparkle clean look of your abode. You can then go outside in the backyard to mow the grass, clean the rain gutters, the pool, re-paint the picket fence, trim the trees. Don't neglect the garden, you might need to cut branches, remove dead plants, prune trees. Small details make the whole perfect so show us the tools and the products while you're using them. Your office can use a spring cleanup as well so old bills, receipts and files may need boxing while the carpet may need some stain remover. Now that you're done with the outside, let's take the spring in. Shake the winter mood and numbness, this is also a time of spiritual cleansing. Give your body, heart and mind a spring clean. Let go of old pictures, toss away souvenirs that do not bring good memories, drop the old relationship baggage. You can take these examples literally or figuratively and show us how you do it to spring clean your lives. Think that the Lent has started for many and it is a good opportunity to give up bad habits, meditate or even pray in anticipation of Easter.

Best spring cleaning photos will be rewarded with $300 (first place), $200 and $100 (runner ups) for the winners to enjoy a beautiful clean spring. We're also giving the most hardworking spring cleaners our Dreamstime branded t-shirts for a clean cut look. Good luck!

Hi Tangie

Great assignment but I live in the UK and spring hasn't and doesn't look like it will reach us here until about June!!! when is the closing date on this?

I guess I have a case of the seasonal blues. I'm only joking of course and it is a rhetorical question with tongue firmly in cheek (just in case any one takes me too seriously).

Although I guess another example of how the British are so obsesessed with the weather......

We don't do any spring cleaning here. People only know there is one summer and one winter and one rainy season. That's all.
I'm probably done with the assignment. All the spirit down the drain. :P
You should have picked something "international". I can guarantee that 80% of the literate Indians wouldn't know which months come under spring. They may say June or December as the closest blind guess.

well I thought I could make time to upload to the assignment spring cleaning... as I have a great shot of a man vacumn ckeaning, which more than one pro has told me they liked. So i went there havent been lucky in the past always seem to get a comment who tells me the shot isnt complex enough different enough, so i stopped uploading to assignments and watched people upload three of almost idential shot and just smiled.
Well looked at front page and for springcleaning theres a sex-sells shot of a barely clad model soaping up a car, I turned right around and pressed cancel on my upload.
What does that have to do with spring cleaning? was she soaping up the cars springs? Im sure the reviewer was daydreaming about something springing up, sure.

good bye assignments.

It takes an advanced photographer to understand why the image below was accepted for the assignment.

First of all, you can see the model is smiling. No one likes to wash a car so the photographer used his superb technical skills to coax just the right smile from the model. Is she really enjoying herself? No, way! But the photographer faked it by using his his talents in directing the model.

While it may be difficult to direct your eyes to the car itself (and not on the model), you will notice the car is new and shiny. Again, this is proof of the photography skills of the Contributor. Making 35 or 42 cents per image means we are all losing money. We go out and buy nice cameras and put them on our credit cards and then we're stuck uploading images in order to make pocket change. There is no way a REAL stock photographer can afford a decent car. To take the typical junker and make the car look brand spankin' new, all I can do is let out a low whistle in admiration of this Contributor.

Lastly, look at the model herself. She is absolutely gorgeous. She is The Perfect Woman. And that should be your first clue because THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE PERFECT WOMAN.

If you study the lighting and editing techniques of this photograph (only a very skill photographer can do this) and reverse engineer how this shot was taken, you will plainly see that again the concept was faked. The model is obviously a 300 pound male with lots of pimples and a long, hairy beard. To be able to adjust the lighting along minimal photo editing techniques and turn a beer-belly-with-hair into a stunning figment of our imagination, I can only bow down to this Contributor and shout "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!"

That is why this image was accepted for the assignment. It makes you want to buy this car. And ask for a phone number.

First of all, We accept criticism, but only within decency limits. That is not criticism, it's rude frustration trying to pass as irony.

That being said, there is a variety of subjects this assignment is open to, and it's each contributor's decision to upload images or not, based on his/her own criteria. One sees the assignment theme one way, another can see it differently, that's called diversity, and that's the beauty of every assignment.

For the sake of friendly controversy, if the girl washing a car - let's say was kept in the garage during winter - isn't related to spring cleaning, where exactly is the "spring" factor in the above image?

I thought the deadline was today. It now says April 26. Did I completely remember this wrong, or did we get an extension?
