Good article. Thanks for highlighting this. When I first joined dreamstime I was sceptical as to the value of editorial images but have been pleasantly proven wrong. I also agree that they add a bit of diversity to your portfolio. I would recommend that contributors not overlook the potential for extra income.
Absolutely! More than half of my sales are editorial.
In fact, editorial is also in most cases commercial...
However, the approval process is sometimes very confusing when it comes to editorial. Editorial is really not only about events and people. Travel images is really more alive with some people included and I believe most travel images are used for illustration :-)
Nikon system. D750 and D7100 are the latest cameras.
If you have excellent editorial photos there is no reason why they shouldn't sell. My portfolio is probably about 90% editorial and I have enjoyed every second shooting it. It's not just about the money...if you love what you are doing it will show in your work! Nice shots.
I also value editorial photos a lot because they're works which no one can repeat (and one cannot say the same about many commercial photos presented in photo agencies). Beside that, editorial photos document the moments of our life which are precious memories for someone, and by sharing these photos a photographer can show the other people what life is about at his/her place. So I wish you good luck and many-many woderful photos! Catherine
