When downloading images for my website, how can I have large images but still low MB for my website?

Thanks

It's a trade-off between size and compression.
Download a size you can use without having to scale it up later, scale it down to the exact dimensions you need, and then experiment with the jpeg compression to get a low MB without losing to much detail. Its pretty much trial and error at that point.

It depends on how large you want to show it on your site. If you read the details of licensing, you'll see that some licenses have a size limit on web usage.

If you want to use one as a backdrop, get the maximum web usage size, and just enlarge it. It will get blurry, but that's good for a backdrop.
