Quoted Message: 5 Months... 11/05 was my first and I have had a pay out every single month since.
Miz, stop that! Let someone else sell something!
Seriously, the first one takes a while, but as you increase your folio and establish customers that like your work it really does gain steam. My first was over a year, but I wasn't submitting very fast. I have been putting in a little more effort lately and the numbers are reflecting it, though I'm still not a 'big clicker' like Miz is.

just a couple of weeks off a year from joining, though i do know most of my pics are not stock orientated, they are more landscape stuff and what interests me :) infact i am in the process of waiting for the money to hit my paypal account to go towards a new lens :)
It took me about 5-6 months, but it has felt like years! I too do not upload tons of pictures, and I do not normally take pictures specifically for stock purposes. I am a portrait photographer, and I happen to post some pictures here to sell. Mostly they are of my own children, but a few weddings, maternity, etc. Just hang in there!
With the new subscription rates, it will take most newbees more than a year - unless they are exceptional and can load 500 images or more in a short time.
At $.25 per sale, you need 400 sales to get the payout. When we got $1.00 or $.5 you could get a payout with aprox 100 - 200 sales. I did ok the first few months, things have slowed considerably. If I stick with it to get a pay out, I estimate two years.
You just have to keep plugging till something happens, or throw in the towel if things stand still over a six month period! Not everyone can keep up the pace and generate sufficient sales. If it takes two years for a payout, you won't even get enough to pay for the a couple of filters to put on your lens.
Good luck! This was meant to help you get an idea with a statistical analysis. You have to project how long it will take to generate 400 sales units. As you will quickly see by checking out how many sales show up for a photog under their post on the forum, NOT TOO MANY REACH 400 sales in a year.

I still havnt had a payout yet and sales have been slow, but since i renamed all my images and ditched titles like pool shot 1 and pool shot 2 I seem to be selling on a daily basis, I think if you name your images correctly and keyword well then you should see your images sell quicker, I hope this of use to you, you can always leave me a message if you want to discuss more about naming and keywording your images I would be more than happy to help u :)
