How to Create Collections

Keeping my promise to Whitestar1955 and the newbies who asked about it on my latest BLOG, here's a step-by-step explanation about Collections and how to make them :)

Collections are of 2 types, private and public.

As a contributor, you might want to organize your DT photos into collections by theme for say faster access ==> if you include photos only by you, you'll have a private collection whose link you can send to your friends or interested buyers, etc. as it won't be visible on Dreamstime automatically.

Here's one by me about my country, Lebanon, the Land of Milk & Honey!

Mosque at Byblos, Lebanon

Cedar Behind Pink Flowers

Ruins and Hibiscus

Lady of Lebanon, Harissa

Arabic Sweets Esmalliyeh

Lebanese Breakfast, Black Olives

Turkish Coffee

Knefeh Platter

Railway Cut-Off 2

The Bell Has Rung

In the Sea of Time

Jar, Stonewall, and Lavender

You can make a collection public by including photos by at least 5 different contributors. A public collection is a nice way to get more exposure to the selected images, it can be searchable, & it's just fun to manage and maintain it.

To access public collections available to date on DT, click the Resources Tab > Collections.

The Latest Collections and Top Collections are showcased, but you can view all collections if you click "view all" on the right side.

Guide to Creating Collections:

1- Go to Management Area.

2- On the left, there are round buttons in "Buyers Area", click the Star one "Collections".

(Or instead of steps 1&2 click this link)

3- Fill in the information in "add a new collection".

4- Search for more. To add a photo, click "Tools" under the photo and select the collection you want to add it to from the "add to collection" drop down menu!

An alternative way to add photos to collections is to go to this link again, on the right you'll find a "add/remove image" button under "Edit". You can add photos by I.D.#'s.

That's all :)

I have 3 private collections & 103 public ones (most of which don't include any of my photos!). Yes, I have a hopeless case of collections-addiction :P

Hi Mgntplus, if you add someone else's photo to your collection, you're kind of complimenting the work and doing the contributor a favor. Adding photos should give them more exposure and a higher chance of selling.

Thanks Eliane. Very useful and clear information for a beginner like me. However, I have a question about a collection, so if someone can answer. Is there some kind of rule when you add photo of other authors in your own collection, or whether we can somehow inform or ask about taking their photos? I did not notice the possibility of direct correspondence with other authors. Thank you!
