It is believed that liberation from this state is possible through the "Noble Path"—the path of spiritual liberation that every Buddhist monk attempts to tread, having recognized the cause of pain in life and with the firm intention of ending the suffering caused by the desire for material goods. Based on this premise, the monk undergoes eight arduous stages of a demanding path of insight and concentration, at the core of which lies another important step separating Buddhist culture from Western culture: meditation.
