Brazilian folk dance Tambor de Crioula in São Luis, Maranhão. The Drum-of-Creole (Tambor-de-Crioula) is a tradition of the descendants of African slaves. It is a sensual dance, exciting, presenting variations on the pace and form of dance, which has no fixed timetable, although it is practiced especially in praise to St. Benedict, the most popular saint among the black people. The great library contains 2000 volumes from the 9th to the 15th century alone.
