Monastery of Thikse, Ladakh, India. In the broad vally of the Indus in the upper north-west region of India, between the Tibetan border and Kashmir, visitors come across a lot of important buddhist monasteries. They all belong to the same streaming of buddhism as the Tibetan form, the Gelukpa Order. The architecture of the buildings is also almost the same as people may find in the neighbouring country. It explaines the nickname of Ladakh, this distant but beautiful region in the northwestern Indian Himalayas: Little Tibet. The monastery on this picture is called the Thikse Gompa. It was build around 1430 AD. It is still populated by approximately 80 monks.

This road is also one of the most dangerous routes in the world, the road is strategically very important for India because it connects Indian Army to Pakistan and China Border. This pass is located in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir state in India. It is the responsibility of BRO workers to work day and night to keep this road clear from landslides etc. for smooth operations of Indian Army in the region. It is very difficult to breath normally at Khardungla Pass for a normal tourist but these workers work in extreme weather conditions.

Kashmir Rosebush. Resembling a Hybrid Tea Rose, the velvety red blossoms are as soft as cashmere. This beautiful, bold plant looks great as a border or along a walkway. It has dark red petals, needs full sun and grows 3-4 feet tall. Roses prefer loamy, well drained soil. Water in the morning so the leaves have all day to dry.
